Local non-profits able to apply for funding consideration through November 30

First Federal Foundation has announced the second opportunity to apply for grants in 2023, occurring now through Thursday, November 30. Applications are accepted online and can be accessed at www.bankfirstfed.com/Foundation. Earlier this year, during the first of two annual grant application and funding opportunities, the Foundation awarded over $60,000 to local non-profits.

“The Foundation is committed to supporting our community’s local non-profit projects. It is rewarding to review the scores of incoming applications,” shared Seth Collins, First Federal Foundation Secretary and Vice President at First Federal Bank. “Each application is a snapshot into the dedicated work and passionate vision of local non-profits through the projects they have underway. The challenge is to make the final selection of grant recipients.”

The First Federal Foundation's Board of Trustees follows various criteria when selecting recipients of funding including whether the request is a capital project, the community impact potential, any humanitarian consideration, if matching funds have been obtained, the project plan and timeline, the overall budget and any background or project objectives. The minimum award is $1,000 and the maximum grant is generally $5,000.

Earlier in 2023, the Jerome Senior Center received funding for new tables, chairs, and window blinds for their dining room and activities area. Sheila Harmon, Site Manager for the Jerome Senior Center, expressed, “We absolutely love First Federal, they are always willing to help and are the nicest people. The grants we have received are a tremendous help, allowing our members to gather and enjoy time spent together.”

The First Federal Foundation was established in 2003 with the belief that giving back to communities enhances the quality of life for all who live in Idaho. Now in its twentieth year, the continuing mission of the Foundation is community improvement for educational, civic, health, human services, social and cultural organizations.
