Treasure Valley Edition of First Federal Bank’s Rock, Paper, Scissors Tournament Contributes Over $17,000 to Local Charities

First Federal Bank held its annual Treasure Valley Rock, Paper, Scissors Tournament of Champions on September 14. The festivities got underway at 6 p.m. in Meridian, at the Julius M. Kleiner Park Bandshell. 30 area businesses comprised the competition, each sporting their best stage entrance attire and attempting to Ro-Sham-Bo their way through a single-elimination bracket. At stake was $17,600, all of which was provided to charities.

To participate in the tournament, businesses paid an entry fee which was then pooled to create 1^st, 2^nd, 3^rd, and 4^th places, as well as a Best Introduction category. The 1^st place winner captured $10,000 towards their charity of choice, followed by 2^nd place receiving $4,000, 3^rd place $2,000, and 4^th place $1,000. The Best Introduction was worth $600 and awarded to the business contestant with the most engaging and entertaining stage entrance. Prior to the Tournament of Champions, participating businesses held their own internal rock, paper, scissors tournaments to determine their champion and designee in the larger tournament.

Established in the Magic Valley in 2018, it was the third edition of the Rock, Paper, Scissors tournament in the Treasure Valley. “We are delighted to see the collaborative spirit of the businesses in the Treasure Valley and their support of the vital work of our local non-profits,” stated Jim Reames, First Federal Bank Senior Vice President and Treasure Valley Market President. “As a leader in community impact, First Fed is honored to enable the philanthropic efforts of our community partners.”

Brenon Lawrence, representing Elite Restoration, won 1^st place and said, “Any way to give back is what you should do because everyone is going through something.” 2^nd place winner Alysa Beauchamp, from Conger Management Group, exclaimed, “This event was amazingly cool and such a great way to give back!” CBH Homes took home Best Introduction with a Rock, Paper, Scissors rap song they had written and choreographed. The CBH Homes team shared, “The Ro, Sham, Bo Tournament is the best way to raise money for local non-profits. It was a blast and we can’t wait for next year!”
