Local non-profits able to apply for funding consideration through June 30
The First Federal Foundation has announced the first opportunity to apply for grants in 2024, occurring now through June 30. Applications are accepted online and can be accessed at www.bankfirstfed.com/Foundation. In 2023, the Foundation awarded over $110,000 to 35 different organizations in the Magic and Treasure Valleys.
“2023 was a banner year for the First Federal Foundation in terms of impact,” stated Nick Popplewell, Vice President and Director of Marketing at First Federal Bank. “We had more organizations apply than ever before and the Foundation awarded its highest one-year total for support. There were a lot of incredible requests for assistance that were funded last year, helping to improve our communities and the quality of life for so many people. We can’t wait to see what is in store for 2024.”
The First Federal Foundation conducts two grant application periods during each calendar year – one in late spring and one in the winter. The criteria for being selected as a recipient of funding includes whether the request is a capital project, the community impact, humanitarian consideration, if matching funds have been obtained, the project plan and timeline, the overall budget, and any background or project objectives. The minimum amount granted is usually $1,000 with the maximum around $5,000.
In 2023, Girls on the Run Southern Idaho received a grant from the Foundation that allowed the non-profit to purchase new technology, enhancing their program delivery and outreach. Executive Director of Girls on the Run, Teressa Johnson, said “I’m so grateful for the support as it helped us achieve our mission. It’s allowed me to serve the volunteers and girls’ families better through improved communication and organization.”
Established in 2003, the First Federal Foundation is dedicated to giving back to communities and helping to enhance the well-being of all who live in Idaho. The Foundation’s primary focus is community improvement for educational, civic, health, human services, social, and cultural organizations.
