Treasure Valley business community event benefits local non-profits and charities.
First Federal Bank’s 3rd Annual Treasure Valley Rock, Paper, Scissors Tournament of Champions will be held on Thursday, September 14, at the Julius M. Kleiner Memorial Park Bandshell in Meridian. The festivities will kick off at 6 p.m. and the public is invited to attend and take part in the fun. A total of 32 area businesses will come together to attempt to Ro-Sham-Bo their way to victory. At stake is a total of $17,600 for charities. In addition to the single elimination, best-of-three, Ro-Sham-Bo between participants, each competitor selects a walkup song and dresses up to entertain the crowd. “This event is just a great time and it is all in support of improving our community,” shared Jim Reames, Treasure Valley Market President for First Federal Bank. “The businesses have a blast competing, it’s really entertaining for everyone who attends, and obviously, it means a lot to the benefiting charities.”
Participating businesses pay an entry fee which is then pooled to create 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th places, as well as a Best Introduction category. All prize money goes to the winners’ charities of choice. The 1st place winner receives $10,000, 2nd place captures $4,000, 3rd place wins $2,000, 4th place secures $1,000, and the Best Introduction is awarded $600. Prior to the Tournament of Champions event taking place, businesses hold internal rock, paper, scissors tournaments to determine their champion and designee in the larger tournament.
Admission to watch the tournament is free and event-goers can enjoy various food vendors, a beer garden, photo booth, and an enter-to-win presented by First Federal as well as giveaways. “We invite our business community and the rest of the Treasure Valley to come out and join us for a fun-filled evening,” added Reames.
Established in the Magic Valley in 2018, First Federal Bank’s Rock, Paper, Scissors Tournament has become a philanthropic staple in the region. The inaugural Treasure Valley Tournament of Champions took place in 2021.
