First Federal Bank Announces Partnership with Sawtooth Society

New savings account contributes funds to nonprofit, helping with conservation and enhancement

HAILEY, Idaho – First Federal Bank has announced a partnership with the Sawtooth Society, in conjunction with the launch of a new savings account, providing customers a way to save and make a difference for one of Idaho’s most-treasured land areas. The ‘Sawtooth Savings’ account will offer a competitive, tiered interest rate, helping enhance customers’ financial well-being. In addition to the personal savings opportunity, with each new Sawtooth Savings account opened, $10 will be contributed to the Sawtooth Society, a nonprofit organization committed to the preservation, protection, and enhancement of the Sawtooth National Recreation Area.

“As we redesigned our deposit products, we identified an opportunity to do something special,” shared Jason Meyerhoeffer, President and CEO of First Federal Bank. “This is a win-win, customers will have a great savings option as well as the opportunity to make a difference for the Sawtooths – a beloved area for people in Southern Idaho and beyond. It’s a place that means a lot to our state and is something we need to help preserve for future generations to enjoy.”

The Sawtooth National Recreational Area (SNRA) is a majestic 756,000-acre expanse in Central Idaho that encompasses the Sawtooth, Hemmingway-Boulder, and Cecil D. Andrus White Clouds wilderness areas. According to the U.S. Forest Service, the SNRA includes over 700 miles of trails, 40 peaks that have an elevation of over 10,000 feet, and more than 300 high-elevation alpine lakes. Founded in 1997, the Sawtooth Society’s mission of conservation and enhancement of the SNRA is accomplished through advocacy, ongoing improvement of recreational facilities and services, leading stewardship of the land, and coordinating volunteer programs.

“The Sawtooths are an incredibly special place for Idahoans. Since 1997, the Sawtooth Society has worked alongside Idahoans to Preserve, Protect, and Enhance this unique and treasured part of Idaho,” stated Mike Hoover, Director of Operations for the Sawtooth Society. “We are excited to partner with First Federal Bank and their Sawtooth Savings program, as it galvanizes our collective missions of strengthening the future of the two great things that make Idaho so special: the land and the people!”

Established in 1972, the Sawtooth National Recreation Area is comprised of six recreational areas including the Redfish Lake Recreation Complex, Alturas Lake Recreation Complex, Pettit Lake Recreation Area, Salmon River Recreation Complex, Stanley Lake and Highway 21 Recreation Complex, and Wood River Recreation Complex. The SNRA is known as an outdoor enthusiast’s paradise, offering numerous recreational opportunities including hiking, backpacking, mountain biking, hunting, fishing, boating, whitewater rafting, camping, skiing, and snowmobiling.

“Our goal with this account is two-fold, help customers save – which is foundational to financial health – as well as provide support and awareness of the Sawtooth Society and the incredible work they are doing,” added Meyerhoffer.
