Beyond Business Banking: Building Stronger Businesses and Communities

For Keleigh Godfrey, business banking is about much more than accounts, transactions, and loans. It’s about getting to know the people behind local businesses, understanding what they need, and helping them find solutions that allow their businesses to thrive.

Keleigh began her career at First Federal Bank in the Commercial Loan Department as a Business Banker. Today, she serves as the Regional Business Banking Manager for the Magic Valley, bringing her experience and knowledge to businesses throughout the area.

“Business bankers are basically a really good resource for our business customers,” Keleigh says. “How can we help your business run more streamlined?”

Getting to Know the Business

One of Keleigh’s favorite parts of business banking is getting an inside look at the businesses that make the Magic Valley unique.

“They love to show you what their business is about,” she says.

Those conversations give First Federal’s Business Bankers an opportunity to understand how a business operates, what challenges it faces, and where First Fed may be able to help. Rather than simply offering a product, the goal is to build a relationship and become a resource business owners know they can turn to.

That relationship also has a larger impact.

“When we have healthy businesses, we have healthy communities,” Keleigh says.

For a community bank like First Federal, supporting local businesses means supporting the communities where its employees and customers live, work, and raise their families.

Helping Businesses Protect What They’ve Built

Supporting a business also means helping owners prepare for challenges and one of the biggest Keleigh and her team continue to see is fraud.

“What we see a lot, unfortunately, is fraud,” she says. “We really try to be on top of those things.”

Business owners already have plenty to manage each day, which is why having a knowledgeable banking team can make a difference. First Federal’s Business Bankers can share resources, knowledge, and practical tips to help customers recognize potential risks and better protect their businesses.

“We’ve got a wealth of knowledge. We’ve got a lot of tips and tricks for them,” Keleigh says. “So we really try to help guide them so that they don’t have to go through that.”

For Keleigh, being there when a customer needs help is one of the most meaningful parts of her job.

“It’s not always easy, but it is rewarding to go home at the end of the day and know that we helped a customer that really needed us.”

Local Knowledge, Personal Relationships

Understanding the Magic Valley is an important part of understanding the businesses First Federal serves.

“Understanding how our community works helps us help the local businesses,” Keleigh says. “We like to go in and really build relationships.”

That local approach allows Business Bankers to learn about each customer beyond the numbers. Whether a business is just getting started, looking for ways to operate more efficiently, preparing to grow, or simply looking for a banking partner they can call with questions, the relationship comes first.

And when a customer needs something outside of business banking, Keleigh and her team can connect them with other experts throughout First Federal.

“First Federal is here to support all of your business needs, whether it starts with needing a loan for something or if it starts with just needing a new personal checking account,” she says.

Business Bankers work alongside First Federal’s Commercial Loan Officers, Wealth Management team, managers, and Personal Bankers to help customers access the resources that fit their needs.

“We just want to make sure that you’re fully taken care of and that if you have any questions, we have all the support that you could need,” Keleigh says.

For Keleigh, that’s what business banking at First Federal is all about: knowing the community, building lasting relationships, and helping local businesses succeed.
