First Grant Application Cycle of 2025 Underway for First Federal Foundation

Grant applications are now being accepted by the First Federal Foundation as its initial funding period for 2025 gets underway. Local, Idaho-based non-profits have until June 30 to apply, after which all submissions will be reviewed by the Foundation board and considered for support. Final grant decisions and the announcement of recipients will occur in mid-July. Organizations interested in applying should visit the Foundation’s webpage (BankFirstFed.com/Foundation) to review the application process and access the submission portal. In 2024, the First Federal Foundation awarded more than $100,000 across 34 different organizations.

Angela Wells, Customer and Community Engagement Manager for First Federal Bank, shared, “We are excited to open the application process and begin the 22nd year of the First Federal Foundation helping local non-profits. Civic impact and enhancement are at the core of what we do at First Fed, and the Foundation plays a big part in our mission to support the community.”

For a non-profit’s application to be considered for funding, the organization must operate within Southern Idaho and be based in the Gem State. Also, the grant request must include a capital project. Applications are reviewed for their community impact, any humanitarian consideration, if matching funds have been obtained, the project plan and timeline, budget, organizational background, and overall project objectives. Typically, the minimum grant awarded is approximately $1,000 and the maximum amount around $5,000.

Brian Muir, of the Mount Harrison Heritage Foundation (a 2024 First Federal Foundation grant recipient), stated, “We are so grateful for this grant from First Federal! We are using it towards building a handicap accessible restroom in the Burley Theatre, which will mean so much to our patrons.”

Since being established 2003, the First Federal Foundation has provided over $1.5 million in funding and assisted more than 200 non-profits. The Foundation’s primary focus is community improvement through support of educational, civic, health, human services, social, and cultural organizations.
