Day-long Festival to Take Over Downtown Meridian, Celebrating German Heritage and Culture

The second annual Meridian Oktoberfest, organized by the Meridian Chamber of Commerce and its Downtown Committee, will take place on Saturday, October 7, in downtown Meridian and is presented by First Federal Bank. From 10 am until 10 pm, the intersection of 2nd and Idaho Streets will come alive with German-themed food, festivities, and fun. Attendees of all ages are welcome and will experience various activities that are sure to enthrall and entertain. The concert stage will be located in the heart of the festival, providing live music throughout the day. Additionally, the day will be filled with events, including a costume contest, corn hole tournament, stein-holding contest, and a strudel eating contest.

“First Fed is proud to partner with the Meridian Chamber of Commerce on this great event, which aligns with our mission as a bank to enhance our local communities,” said Jim Reames, Senior Vice President and Treasure Valley Market President of First Federal Bank. “The Meridian Oktoberfest is already becoming one of the area’s biggest celebrations, and people definitely don’t want to miss out.”

The festival was established to provide an occasion for the local community to come together, allowing residents to connect and visitors the ability to experience Meridian. In addition, the event offers local businesses the opportunity to highlight their products and services. There will be an authentic German biergarten featuring a wide selection of beers and numerous food vendors offering traditional German cuisine and Oktoberfest-themed fare.

“As a chamber, we believe that events like these play a critical role in fostering community connections, providing a platform for local businesses to showcase their unique offerings, and creating downtown as a destination for Meridian,” said Sean Evans, President and CEO of the Meridian Chamber of Commerce. "With the great support from our sponsors, we are excited to bring back the Oktoberfest event this year.”
